My Proposal

Previously I stated that I wanted to make a short film however, I was finding it hard to come up with a story line for the film. Therefore, I am going to change this idea to a music video as the story line has already been created through the song. This sounds like an easy way out yet I can adapt the story line and make it my own.

I am currently looking at music videos and I have noticed that sexual references and explicit content has reached the top 10, therefore selling to a main stream audience. This convention would not fit into the kind of song I want to use.

I need to plan when I am going to be filming and almost plan around other peoples diaries. From the As coursework I have learnt that an easily accessible location is key. I will have to plan the location and editing time.

I would like to feature in my music video along with a few friends from the A2 drama group. If I film during the summer it will be easier for us all to reach the location.

However, I have not really considered locations, until I make the final decision on the choice of song.

From my As coursework I have learnt that planning is the best way to stop problems from occurring.

Brief

I was given 13 different briefs to choose from and I have decided that I am going to do number 1: A promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music promo video, together with two of the following:

• a website homepage for the band
• a cover for its release as part of a digipak
• a magazine advertisement for the digipak

I feel this the best option for me as I've always been interested in the music industry. Also, within a song the story has already been created, yet I can adapt this to make the song my own.

As I did moving image for my As coursework I have learned to use the resources to create the final product of a music video. However, I have not yet worked on print but the two shorter tasks I pick will give me the opportunity to develop my skills in the media area;

• a cover for its release
• a magazine advertisement

I cannot wait to start this project....
